Politics...Are you interested?

Do you care to know the candidates, proposals, political parties, or you’re the kind that turns off the TV at the time of political propaganda? And selects the candidates on Election Day?
I would not be surprised by your answer,
Much of the voters are tired with all this “bla bla bla” of political.
All this neglect on the part of voters reflects the policy unconvincing which we are accustomed, where we Brazilians witnessed everyday scandals and more scandals.

Postal scandal
This scandal occurred in May 2005 after allegations of irregularities in the Brazilian Post and Telegraph.
The crisis began when a videotape showing a former employee of Post and Telegraphs, Mauricio Marinho, dealing with an alleged kickback entrepreneur interested in participating in an auction, and have the backing of citing federal deputy Roberto Jefferson, Rio de Janeiro.
Jefferson initially denied his involvement in the corruption practiced in the company, but when pressed, He denounced other corruption scheme, calling (Mensalão), a revelation that led to the eventual discovery of another corruption scheme even more serious.

Mensalão
Who can forget the scandal of "vote-buying" (Mensalão) in 2005?
A major political crisis in 2005  which consisted of the scheme to buy votes from parliamentarians, for personal and illegal purposes. The scandal involved a huge number of Brazilian politicians, businessmen and even politicians internationally.

Renan Calheiros
A series of corruption allegations reaching Renan Calheiros made headlines in the Brazilian press in 2007. The case was called Renangate. The senator is accused of trafficking in influence, setting up a scheme of embezzlement of public funds into ministries controlled by the PMDB, and other illegal transactions. Sob public pressure, Renan gave up the presidency, though without abandoning the mandate.

Despite all these scandals in Brazilian politics, what is the positive conception of politics? What is really politics? What is democracy?
Politics is called art or science of organization, direction and administration of nations or states
Democracy is government of the people, for the people, it represents popular sovereignty to the will of a nation and an equitable distribution of power.
The political situation today it is easy to understand when we consider that we live in a society where a fraction of individuals who act politically in their demand, nothing more, nothing less, benefit.
But Politics is the art of governing, is the use of power to defend their rights of citizenship.
However  we are living in a country where these concepts are distorted every day, it is necessary to exercise our duty as citizens in Brazil, consciously and with integrity. Always believing that our choices reflect the Brazil of tomorrow. For this we must know the proposals, see the historic candidate, watch the debates on TV, exposing our ideas respecting the view of others.

Politics is a serious thing to be remembered only in times of elections, where we are practically forced to vote, or else suffer a penalty. However, all individuals are susceptible to policy analysis because, as science is no longer valid to express the concern of placing all individuals in the process of building society.

The lack of ethics in politics is the cause of most ills affecting society. It is necessary to give place to an egalitarian government, combating illegal politics, so we can change our conception of what is politics.

What is your conception about politics?

  1. Hey Elizamba srsrrsr. I guess People in Brazil are tired of a lot of scandals in politcs and they do not care about it any more. But is important to be aware of who we chouse to represent us in Governament. Is important to researh about politic´s life, about their projects, political party, proposals. I guess Politics is how a person who intented to be elected behave before and after the election. What have they done in their politics live?. How does a person face our political moment? If they are active in politcs or not? All details are important to dicide when you will vote.

  2. Hey Zama! Congrats for the post. There isn't a more appropriate moment than this month to talk about it.

    What's my conception about politics?

Well, when I was younger I was hopeful about politics and politicians, I thought this was the way to make the world better and they were our representatives. I used to get more 'connected'to politics and kind of defend my candidates...At that time I used to appreciate politics!

But I've grown up, got mature and then I realized that for most people (politicians and ordinary people), politics is an option to personal enrichment, for defending personal interests... people's necessity is not a priority.

So, I believe in politics, but not in politicians. There are good ones, but it's not always that we give them the chance to prove that. I watch the political propaganda and the debates, I analyze the proposals and try to vote consciously...but the fact is that I'm very disappointed wiht the Brazilian politic scene. I'm still hopeful, but not so much...

  4. As a brazilian citizen, it's not a big thing to say that I share the same ideas about politics as the great part of the people in this country, I don't trust or believe in politicians and I don't like politics. Unfortunately, The corruption is already part of our culture and we accept this. I mean, even if we know that a certain politician is a corrupt one, the people continues voting on him! It's so weird. I mention the cases of Jader Barbalho and Sarney family as examples of it . It's such a shame that a big and powerful country as Brazil which is becoming one of the most important country in the world can be easily associated to scandals, corruptions and so on. For sure, if we didn't have this behaviours in the government, we would have more opportunities to grow up as individuals and the country would be more powerfull.

  5. Oh my! Although I'm not a person who really cares about potitics, I know the importance our vote has when we choose someone to represent us in Brasilia. I kind of don't trust in any of them...because of the public scandals, and all their lies....I dont have much to say about this, but that I defenietly find some politics repugnant!Like JADER, and people keep voting on him....tsc tsc tsc...that's sad...

Kisses Eliza!! Congratulations for your post!

  6. I believe that politic is important for each country. But nowadays i can't see truth in politicians because these scandals made me unhappy.
What remains for the people's quality education, to analyse who can really represent us. Sometimes we are bought with false and silly promises . It seems that nothing works here "O Ficha Limpa" for example, I was impressed and happy of course because Jader was not winner in the end of this story.
But nevertheless I will keep waiting for good things for our country,

  7. Hey Elizama!!! Very interesting topic!!!!

Well, I agree with Nicolly when she said that politics is important for each country. The Politicians have to work for us, to improve our lives (school, health, jobs, etc.) and our country. But they don't. They just want to take care about their lives, their pockets. Being a politician is a way to save money in a short period of time, it's a kind of lottery.
I say this, because I'm really disapointed about politics. But I still have hope. Someone will make everything different someday (I hope so).

    Kisses ELiza!

  8. Hey eliza congratulatiosn for your blog and the subject chosen. It is good subject should be disussed with a great care by our generations. All of us cannot stand many scandals anymore!!! Me, for instance, I do not know who deserve my vote, I do not know who wants to work in serious way for our country because politcians have an important role and they should live up to their position in the Congress. Ihope the our first woman president to live up to our expectations.

  9. Hello Elizama, your post is one of the most interesting ever posted.

You Know, i like politics,This topic really excites me.Talking about a democaracy that we all know it doesnt happen; It's a fact that, like others mentioned, WE ARE really dissapointed with this scene in our country. And it is true that the most of our politicians are dehonest and care about themselves only. But i also think that there are great politicians that really have the desire to make to make something good for the people and accomplish their duty.As 'reformas de base' like João Goulard did in the past are an example of that, and nowadays Cristovão Buarque, Heloísa Helena, Marina e etc could do the same. Its just a shame that our people do not have this councious...they are easily influenced by the midia, and they end up electing those ones who does not have a good purpose in governing our country.
